This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week!

Thank you to each of our volunteers for all that you do to support our shared community

Volunteer appreciation week is April 20 – 26, 2025

Model Cities relies on the generosity of volunteers at Safe Space Shelter, our HomeStretch workshops, and at special events. We could not do this important work without our volunteers!

We would like to express our sincere thanks to our dedicated repeat volunteers supporting Safe Space, including City Bella residents, Pilgrim Lutheran Church members, Second Story Church, Girl Scout Troop 57908, Central Baptist church, Katia McDonough, Dominique Robinson, Kristin Howatt, Heidi Leise, Reina Lopez, Andrea Hinderaker, and many more.

We would also like to give a huge shout out to our Board of Directors who are also volunteers! Their contributions help guide and lead our organization. Thank you to Osborne Strickland, Chair; Amy Schwabe, Vice Chair; Jonathan Cooper, Treasurer; Judith Aminmentse; Brenda Bailey; Brenda Bolar-Ford; Heidi Leise; Tiffany Phillips; and Marilyn Porter; as well as our Committee Members Daniel Atunahjay and Dr. Beverley Oliver Hawkins.

And last but not least, we would not be able to run our first time homebuyer workshops without the dedication of our HomeStretch volunteers: Catrice Williams and Mino Leon, Banneker Realty; Carla Bland, Old National Bank; Prairie Home Inspections; Deangelo Ellis and Alexander Carr, Associated Bank; Cameron Perkett, US Bank; Tiffany Phillips and Peggy Ryan, Bell Bank; Lance Elliot, Frandsen Bank & Trust; Nancy Healy and Trent Bowman, Bremer Bank; Pat Paulson, Lakes Area Realty; Glenda Coates and Shekina Washington, Prominent Closing Services, LLC.

We are immensely grateful for everyone’s dedication to our mission and the communities we serve.

Give the gift of time with volunteer opportunities at Model Cities
