This fall Model Cities staff participated in the annual United Way Employee Giving campaign. Employees had the option to become donors at any organization in the Twin Cities, supporting our wider community in a different way. This giving campaign was also a time for staff connection with team building and a little friendly competition for this year’s Chili Cook-off!
Last year’s Chili Cook-Off Champion was dethroned by Safe Space Shelter Advocate, Sidney McNair. Competition was steep; the smoky aromatic blend of one contestant, a chili with a secret ingredient from another, and even an oxtail specialty chili from the reigning “Chili King” had “everyone buzzing,” as reported by Robert Varner, Shelter Operations Coordinator and Chili Cook-off correspondent. But Sidney’s special chili, with “a bold blend of spice, heart, and just the right kick, brought the trophy home to Safe Space” for 2025.
Congratulations Sidney and Model Cities staff on coming together for fun, team-building, and supporting our neighbors in a different way. Thank you for all that you do to keep our mission moving!
