Families First Pilot Program for Assistance

Model Cities Families First New Pilot Program!

The program provides a $300 monthly rent supplement and ongoing supportive services for three years. To be eligible, families must have at least one child in Pre-K to 3rd grade enrolled in a participating school, must meet income requirements, and not be receiving other housing assistance. The schools are:

  • Benjamin E. Mays IB World School
  • Dayton’s Bluff Achievement Plus Elementary
  • Jackson Elementary School
  • John A.

Upcoming Protests at the Capitol Building and Grounds

Model Cities wants to make all residents aware that there may be demonstrations and protestors at the Capitol over the next week related to the Presidential Inauguration on Wednesday, January 20th.  The State of Minnesota is planning to have a National Guard presence around the Capitol area. We are not expecting any spillage of illegal or violent activities along University Avenue or in the Frogtown neighborhood, however we will be closely monitoring the activities over the days leading up to and after the Inauguration.

Volunteer Opportunities Again with The St. Paul Fellowship Church and Model Cities

The St. Paul Fellowship Church, in partnership with Model Cities is working to organize more Food Distribution Events in September. We are asking for your help with volunteer opportunities to provide our neighborhood with food and household necessities.

Volunteer opportunities are present for helping organize and distribute food and household items. You can help by bagging items, distributing, and setting up as well as taking down the arrangements in the St. Paul Fellowship Church Parking Lot.

Minnesota Housing has Launched COVID-19 Housing Assistance!

Model Cities would like to bring to your attention to the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program by Minnesota Housing which provides housing assistance payments to help prevent eviction, prevent homelessness, and maintain housing stability for eligible renters and homeowners.

 

How does it work?

  1. Determine initial eligibility
  2. Complete the online Common Household Application Form (application form)
  3. Work with a Local Administrator
